THE BRICKLAYER
Brick & Block
Construction
Available since 1977, this three-volume text is the most comprehensive and most authoritative training text ever developed for training masonry craftsmen.
JATC's and other BAC trowel trades training programs throughout the U.S. and Canada have made these texts the standard of the industry. They should be part of the tool kit of every apprentice and journeyman.
For better utilization of this three-volume set, order an instructor's guide with each set.
Rigging
A basic overview of the equipment and methods employed for suspended work platforms.
The primary focus of this presentation is on safety, "C" hooks, tie backs, outriggers, wire rope, safety lines and work platforms. It's "must" viewing for all BAC apprentices, no matter what trade they are learning.
This A/V presentation was produced with the assistance of Pointers, Cleaners and Caulkers Local No. 66, New York City.
Ceramic Tile
Basic procedures of tile installation in mastic and the tools required for the tile trade.
Ceramic Tile Installation in Mastic will be a valuable training tool, especially to JATC's who conduct Pre-Job Training.
The Mason's Level:
Its Use and Applications
Covering one of the basic tools of the trade, this program is for all trowel trades apprentices. It describes the level, its care and maintenance and its use when building corners, battered and corbeled walls, radius and serpentine walls.
Pointing
Every bricklayer should know how to remove and replace the mortar in the joints of a masonry structure in a manner that will preserve or restore the original structural properties of the wall.
Pointing emphasizes identification of areas needing repair, selection of proper tools, removal of old mortar, preparation of the wall, replacement of mortar and tooling and cleaning the joints.
Cutting
This presentation provides a quick insight to increased proficiency in four proven techniques for cutting different types of masonry units- using the bricklayer's hammer, brick set, trowel and masonry saw.
