IMI Apprenticeship and Training Introduces Three New Educational Packages.
Pavers in Cement Mortar AV-7
An increasing demand in recent years for brick pavers on horizontal surfaces has brought a greater need for trowel tradesmen with the skills required to be efficient and productive on paving projects.
The Pavers in Cement Mortar demonstrates the "two step paving system" in which the paving units are set in a mortar setting bed in step one and grouted and cleaned in step two. Applications using both cement mortar and dryset or latex cement mortar setting beds are demonstrated in the presentation.
Pavers in Cement Mortar is a practical training aid for apprenctices, improvers, journeymen and contractors.
Pre-Assembled Panels AV-8
The recent surge in construction of medium and high rise stone buildings has provided a substantial increase in work opportunities for BAC members and Mason Contractors in the assembly, erection, anchoring, alignment and caulking of pre-fabricated stone panels.
This 106 slide audiovisual presentation illustrates one of the common natural stone erection systems used today. It demonstrates, step by step, the work process involved in assembling, transporting, aligning and anchoring of the stone panels. A full explanation of the caulking procedures is also included in the presentation.
The Trowel Trades AV-9
To make a wise career choice, a young person must have accurate and useful information about the work opportunities available. How will a persons likes, dislikes and talents fit into the range of occupations being considered.
"The Trowel Trades" is a 12-minute slide/tape presentation that provides a thorough over view of the trowel trades crafts and the work performed by members of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen and the Mason Contractors Association of America. This presentation can be used by BAC local unions, mason contractor chapters, JATC administrators and career counselors. In addition to "The Trowel Trades" presentation, full color brochures are available.
