including 62 executive suites, surrounded by a 32-acre palm-studded garden.
Topflight Recreation and Dining Facilities
The hotel offers plenty to do for the sports enthusiast. The hotel has its own health club and adult-oriented spa plus handball/racquetball courts, screened and lighted tennis courts, exercise equipment, pro shop, therapy pool, sauna, and four swimming pools.
While San Diego abounds with topflight restaurants, dining at the Town & Country can be a truly delightful experience. Its Gourmet Room is a San Diego favorite now as it was some 30 years ago. "Diner francais par excellence" is the trademark of Le Pavillon, where elegant cuisine is complemented by a vista of Mission Valley, once home to local Indians situated along the San Diego Riverbed. Crystal T's Emporium is an extravaganza of food, fun and dancing. And three lounges offer a selection of live entertainment.
The city of San Diego offers numerous memorable and exciting attractions, all situated close to the Town & Country. You mustn't miss seeing Seaworld, a vast collection of exotic marine life, including the world's largest live shark exhibit. The renowned San Diego Zoo, one of the largest in the world, is without doubt one of the best. Here you can visit a walk-through aviary and the only Koala bears living outside Australia. San Diego Wild Animal Park features acres of land where the animals are allowed to roam freely so they may be viewed as they live in their natural habitats.
And only minutes away is colorful Tijuana, Mexico, the busiest international border gate in the world, where you can browse an entire day and still have more to see. So start thinking San Diego and the '83 MCAA Conference and Show. The program details are being organized now and will be passed along to you as they develop.
6 MASONRY-JULY/AUGUST, 1982
The Town & Country's ultramodern Convention Center (above) is an integral part of what is now California's largest convention hotel complex. The Center's lower-level Exhibit Hall contains 80,000 sq. ft. and will house MCAA's '83 Trade Show. The Town & Country's large, random-shaped swimming pool (left) nestles among a stand of desert palms. In the background is the hotel's famous Gourmet Room restaurant. An aerial view on the preceding page shows the sprawling hotel complex in its entirety.
