Loadbearing Brick
Interstate Brick & Ceramic Tile, P.O. Box 517, West Jordan, UT 84084, is marketing a 16" load bearing brick under the Atlas brand name. The company says the burned clay unit costs about 30% less per sq. ft. and lays as fast as 12" units. The Atlas line features 3 width sizes: 4", 6" and 8", with respective unit weights of 8.1, 10.9 and 14 lbs. According to Interstate, the hollow brick's strength permits less reinforcement in the wall, resulting in additional savings during construction. The compression strength is claimed to be 3% times that of concrete block, permitting architects to design taller and thinner.

Scaffold Decking
The Tuf-Alum II scaffold decking manufactured by the Specialty Products Division of Howmet Aluminum Corp., P.O. Box 40, Magnolia, AR 71753, is suitable as small portable scaffolding for maintenance and light construction work or as massive scaffolding for major projects. The all-aluminum, heavy-duty decking is light and durable, and comes in standard lengths of 6", 7' and 10'. It is UL classified for load rating.

Perlite Literature
The Perlite Institute, 45 W. 45 St., New York, NY 10036, has published a 4-page, 2-color brochure describing perlite loose fill insulation for masonry walls. The brochure details properties, benefits, cost savings, codes and coverage. A series of tables for concrete block wall U values and R values for veneer and cavity wall construction is included.

All About Lift Trucks
Do you know what type, size or style of lift truck is best for your operation? Whether powershift transmission is better than manual shift? Or the other way around? These questions and many more are explored in an 8-page brochure, "The Lift Truck," produced by Hyster Co., Advertising & Sales Promotion Dept., P.O. Box 2902, Portland, OR 97208. The material was written especially for those who may be relatively inexperienced in the purchase of lift trucks. In question/answer form, it explains the fundamentals of lift trucks: what they are, what they do, and how to use them for profit.

Flagstone Tiles
U.S. Rock Co., 1700 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94402, has announced production of "Rocktile," a new product made of an old material-floor and wall tile cut from Idaho quartzite flagstone. Idaho quartzite, among the most beautiful and durable building materials in the world, was created by nature some 900 million years ago. U.S. Rock cuts it into tiles of various widths, lengths and squares. The tiles have an unpolished, natural-looking surface texture with genuine gold and mica highlights. Distributor inquiries are invited.

Skid Steer Literature
A 4-page, full-color brochure on its new line of skid steer loaders has been published by Lull Engineering Co., Inc., 3045 Hwy. 13, St. Paul, MN 55121. Illustrated are two loader models- the 800-lb. capacity Series 800, and the 1,200-lb. capacity Series 1200. Both feature self-leveling buckets, hand levers that control all functions, 4-wheel hydrostatic drive, and a wide range of quick-change attachments to push, dig, lift or bore.

Pump-Jack Poles
New pump-jack scaffolding poles that can be quickly spliced by one person for use up to the maximum legal height of 30' have been introduced by Alum-A-Pole Corp., P.O. Box 66, Staten Island, NY 10303. Made of all-weather structural aluminum with permanently mated safety grip rubber, Alum-A-Poles come in 6, 12 and 24 ft. lengths and can be readily assembled for different heights by using the company's Alum-A-Joints. Preference for Pavers
Landscape architects are increasing their use of pavers of face brick quality over common red brick, according to Huntington/Pacific Ceramics, Inc., P.O. Box 1149, Corona, CA 91720. Reasons for this trend are the wide range of colors and textures available for pavers, different sizes compared to only 2-3/8" for common brick, easier installation, and longer life. Huntington/Pacific markets 7/16", 1-1/4" and 2-3/16" brick pavers in a variety of colors. A new color brochure on elegant masonry pavers is yours for the asking from the company.
