New Forklift Line
Caterpillar Tractor Co., 35 Morrissey Blvd., Boston, MA 02125, is unveiling a totally new lift truck line. Designed for rough terrain applications, the new R Series is designed to address the needs of outdoor applications in poor-to-good soil conditions. The R Series is the first Cat Lift Truck model line that will work side-by-side with other Caterpillar construction machinery. The new line includes two vehicle families with lift capacities ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 lbs.
Restoration System
Hydrochemical Techniques, Inc., P.O. Box 2078, Hartford, CT 06145, is offering masonry restoration contractors its "Hydroclean building restoration system. Included is a product line of brick, granite, sandstone and masonry cleaners. The formulas, which utilize proven high pressure water and chemical cleaning technology, have evolved from Europe's well-developed restoration industry where they have been successfully used on a number of historic buildings.
Equipment Catalog
A new 88-page catalog illustrating over 1,900 tools and equipment for use in the trowel trades is available free from Masonry Specialty Co., 4430 Gibsonia Rd., Rt. 910, Gibsonia, PA 15044. In addition to mason's hand tools, the catalog lists such items as diamond saw blades, concrete vibrators, power trowels, concrete and mortar mixers, and screeds.
New Glazed Tile
Stark Ceramics, Inc., P.O. Box 8880, Canton, OH 44711, has announced the availability of a new security conformation for structural glazed facing tile. The new tile allows installation of an 8 grid of steel within the units to comply with Federal Bureau of Prisons requirements for maximum security installations. The units feature vertical coring and horizontal knock-outs so that the wall can be completely reinforced with steel bars 8" on center in both directions. All voids are then filled with 3,000 psi concrete grout to meet security requirements.
Masonry "Wet Look"
"Luster Seal," a new product produced by Chemstop Mfg. & Sales Corp., 1222 Ardmore Ave., Itasca, IL 60143, combines the deep penetration of Chemstop Waterproofing with a protective surface-coating that waterproofs and beautifies stone, marble-crete, exposed aggregate panels, and other similar masonry materials. Colors are accentuated with a "wet" or semigloss appearance that resists abrasion and will not yellow. Luster Seal can be applied with a common garden sprayer, brush or roller.
Skid Steer Loader
Prime-Mover Co., Muscatine, IA 52761, has added a 40 hp diesel engine option to its Model L-1200 skid steer loader. The L-1200 also is available with a 35 hp gasoline engine and a wide variety of buckets for both construction and industrial applications.
Wall Reinforcement
A new 4-page brochure discusses the merits of building masonry walls with Dur-O-Wal Ladur type reinforcement as principal design steel. It cites the cost savings and other advantages of this method compared with conventional intermediate bond beam construction, such as reduced mortar and rebar requirements, area of steel supplied by Ladur type, grout savings and bond beam requirements.
