Norwegian Group Tours

Twenty-two persons engaged in the masonry industry in Norway visited the United States in March and April to see various masonry job sites and to exchange information with American mason contractors. Their tour took them to six major cities from the Pacific Coast to the Midwest.

Headed by Arvid Malme, executive director of the Norske Murmestres Landsforening in Olso, the group landed in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 27, where they met with Jim Amrhein and other members of the Masonry Institute. One of the highlights of their stay there was a visit to one of the world's most famous attractions-Disneyland.

The following Tuesday they journeyed to San Francisco, where Oscar Person hosted a reception and was their personal guide on various masonry construction projects in the Bay Area.

The next stop was Las Vegas, where the local chapter hosted the Norwegians to dinner and accompanied them on a round of entertainment at the various hotels and casinos.

On Saturday, April 2, the group arrived in Denver only to be greeted by a massive spring snowstorm. Although their activities were hampered by the inclement weather, the visitors had the opportunity to renew old acquaintances with the many mason contractors from Colorado who had gone to Norway the previous year on a similar journey arranged by Mac Terry, executive director of MCA of Colorado.

From there the group traveled to St. Louis, where they met MCAA president Don Leonard and were treated to a reception at his home. Local mason contractors then guided them on a tour of the city to see various masonry projects and the symbolic Gateway Arch.

Their final stop was in Chicago, where the MCA of Metropolitan Chicago and DuPage County acted as hosts at a reception and dinner, with Tony Luczynski acting as spokesman and official host.

Comprising the Norwegian tour group were: Mr. & Mrs. Oddvar Loedeng, Mr. & Mrs. Magnus J. Helgesen, Mr. & Mrs. Kjell W. Jansen, Mr. & Mrs. Arne Eriksen, Mr. & Mrs. Lars J. Soerum, Mr. & Mrs. Walter Korth, Mr. & Mrs. Gunnar Halvorsen, and Mr. & Mrs. Einar Wahlstroem.

Also, Mrs. Kjellaug Fjellvang, who was the tour conductor, Mr. Svein Dahlen, Mr. Anton Amundsen, Mr. Tore Haavaldsen, Mr. Jon Gullaksen and Mr. Arvid Malme.

"It's a strange but mathematical fact that when a 17-year-old boy borrows the the family car, he can, in one night, subtract five years from the life of the car and add them to the age of his father." Flip Wilson

7 lbs of Easy-Spred
outdoes 50 lbs of lime in

* Workability
* Board Life
* Convenience
* Cost Savings

Our little bag of Easy-Spred only outweighs lime in advantages. One easy-to-handle 7 lb bag of Easy-Spred mortar plasticizer outworks a 50 lb bag of lime while producing smoother, creamier, more workable mortar. Spreads like butter for easy tooling of joints and better flow to cross joints and you won't have to re-butter head joints.

Besides being 7 times easier to pick up, Easy-Spred is also completely non-toxic and won't burn skin or eyes. Its cost is lighter too.

Easy-Spread is naturally compatible with basic ingredients in mortar and is effective for use with brick, block, or stucco.
