State Seal Reproduced in Brick
An unusual sculpture of the state seal of Nebraska, carved out of 320 face brick, has been donated to the city of Lincoln by Yankee Hill Brick Manufacturing Co.
Consisting of 8"-thick like red velour Saxon brick, the $5,000 sculpture will be placed on a wall in the Cornhusker Square Convention Center. The installation will require no special handling other than finishing the mortar joints. The work measures 9 ft. in diameter and uses the same kind of brick that Yankee Hill supplied for the exterior of the Convention Center and the new Cornhusker Hotel. The artwork was created by artist Charles Wees who is a mason by trade.
