Masonry Award to Sears Store in Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Concrete Masonry Association's "Excellence In Masonry" award has been accorded the new Sears store in King of Prussia, Pa. The building was designed by the Philadelphia-based architectural/engineering firm of Ewing Cole Cherry Parsky.
The 220.000 sq. ft. facility, one of Sears' largest, features a split-face block exterior with hidden seams and joints that provide a monolithic texture to the building.

Construction product firms are starting to develop computer databases for use by architects and engineers in the design of new construction projects, according to survey results released at the first annual Building Product Manufacturers' Computer Conference in New York City.
The conference, sponsored by McGraw-Hill's Sweet's Division, was attended by key executives of building product companies from across the nation. They assessed the new marketing opportunities presented by the growing use of computer aided design (CAD) techniques in the construction industry.
