A workshop on codes, metal buildings, the basement market for masonry, and the masonry industry's national clients. Workshop panelists included Mario Catani, who described the forthcoming ACI/ASCE masonry code; Ray Gordon, eastern regional manager, Portland Cement Association, and Robert Beiner. IMI's technical services director.

A workshop on ways and means of improving local craft training programs in masonry. Panelists were Ann E. Neydon, attorney, and Robert Westbrook, technical training consultant. James F. Richardson, BAC executive vice president, moderated the program.

A second workshop on training, which concentrated on the need for special craft training in the rehabilitation, maintenance and restoration fields. Panelists were Jan Anderson, executive director of Restore; Fidel Cashero, contractor, and Michael McLeod, ornamental sculptor.

Education and research in masonry were covered in a workshop with panelists Robert Beiner of IMI and Gary Schoenfeld of the National Concrete Masonry Association. The workshop dealt extensively with NCMA's research into the performance of masonry/metal stud wall systems.

A closing presentation on implementing IMI's new regional marketing approach, featuring as speakers IMI trustees George A. Miller and Louis Weir, and a second presentation on implementing the national/regional training program by Miller and L. Gerald Carlisle.
