Amer. Olean Develops New Tile Product
American Olean Tile Division of National Gypsum Co. announced it has developed "Transit-Tile," a new ceramic tile product used to aid the visually handicapped in transit stations and other public areas.
The 6" 6 tile has 16 raised buttons (for detection with the canes carried by the blind) and a glazed, brilliant orange color (visible to those with as little as 10% vision).
A row of Transit-Tile can be installed near the edge of subway platforms and to mark similar high-risk public areas.

New Directory on Small Business Subcontracting
Last year small businesses received some $15.6 billion in subcontract awards from prime contractors with the U.S. Defense Department. Now a handy new reference, the Small Business Subcontracting Directory, lists companies which are Department of Defense prime contractors, the kinds of products or services they sell, and the name and phone number of the contact person in each company. These contacts can provide practical advice and help your business join their company's vendor team to sell your product or service to the DOD.
The 132-page directory (stock number 008-040-00184-9) is available for $5. Send prepayment to Dept. 36-GG, Superintendent of Documents, Washington, DC 20402.
