What business does a handsome dog like me have with a top cat like you? My name's MoGruff, and it's my business to help prevent crime. I think it should be your business, too-to teach your employees how to protect themselves. Just send for my business kit-it'll help you develop a program that teaches your employees how to make their homes burglar-proof, make their neighborhoods safer, even how not to get mugged.

So take the time, and TAKE A BITE OUT OF CRIME. Write to MoGruff, Crime Prevention Coalition, 20 Banta Place, Hackensack, NJ 07601 for lots of information on Crime Prevention. A message from the Crime Prevention Coalition, this publication and The Ad Council.

More on Terra Cotta
Editor:
An associate of mine sent a copy of your request for information on terra cotta manufacturers. Boston Valley Pottery, Inc. has been supplying terra cotta for the past two years for restoration projects. Included in our list of buildings are the Guaranty Building and the Roosevelt Apartments in Buffalo, N.Y., and the Railway Exchange Building in Chicago.

With large-scale facilities, skilled craftsmen and technical expertise, we can match any existing terra cotta to exacting detail. Our design department can offer exciting new designs in terra cotta and faience for new projects.

To the best of our knowledge, the only two other U.S. terra cotta manufacturers producing material for both new buildings and restorations are Gladding. McBean & Co., P.O. Box 97, Lincoln, CA 95648, a firm founded in 1875, and Architectural Terra Cotta & Tile Ltd., 932 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607. Gladding, McBean supplied more than 12,000 terra cotta units in 1976 for the 10-story addition to the historic Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City (Masonry, March, 1977). Earl S. Child Masonry of Springville, Utah, installed the terra cotta units on that project.

In the January, 1984 issue of Masonry, page 44 ("New Foam Aids in Insulating Masonry Walls"), you have mentioned LockBlock, Inc. of Houston, Texas, for manufacturing of interlocking blocks. Please send me more information about this company and the interlocking block construction system.

This story has generated considerable interest and numerous inquiries. The company has since relocated its offices and manufacturing facilities from Houston and can be reached at P.O.
