Architects and Opera Plan Renovation
Opera Delaware and The Architects Studio are planning to move to new facilities in the Christiana Gateway, Wilmington, Del. They have jointly agreed to purchase and renovate an old mill building on the Christiana River. The century-old red brick structure is part of a larger building complex that was once the Pusey/Jones Ship Building Co.
Opera Delaware, now without a home, will occupy about one-half of the building. The remainder will be used by The Architects Studio, now at 504 W. 10th Street in Wilmington. The renovation project, along with the Delaware Theatre Company, will form the nucleus of a cultural center in the Christiana Gateway.
