New Survey Shows
Construction Executive
Compensation
The average annual salary for construction company presidents is currently $60,000 and $8,340 was the average bonus paid in 1984, according to survey results released by the monthly management newsletter Contractor Profit News.
The survey, which was conducted for CPN by DMC, Inc., Marietta, Ga., covered more than 4,500 managers in 282 construction firms. According to Bill Fanning, president of DMC, some construction firms are prospering while others have not yet bounced back from the 1982 recession.
Wide Range Noted
"The results are definitely mixed," Fanning said. "While many participants received 8 to 10 percent raises in the past year, many others received no increase at all, and a few reported salary cuts. The same wide range was noted in bonus payments, which are definitely sensitive to economic conditions."

Difference between
heaven and hell
is not in their environments, said Ben Weiner in his remarks at the Public Affairs Council seminar. The temperature is the same, the weather similar, the buildings look a lot alike, but the difference is simply in the administration of each place.
In heaven, the British are the cops, the French are chefs, the Germans are technicians, the Swiss are organizers, and the Italians are lovers.
In hell, the British are chefs, the Germans are cops, the French are technicians, the Swiss are lovers, and the Italians are the organizers.
