FOR A GRAND OLE TIME
Jan. 12-16, 1988
Plans are firming up for the 38th Annual Conference, to be held January 12-16 at the Opryland Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee. The hotel, a blend of Colonial Williamsburg and southern plantation architecture, is the largest hotel property in Tennessee, and one of the most distinctive in the nation. Opened in 1977, and currently with 1,067 rooms and suites, it is being expanded to over 1,900 rooms, with 120 suites. In addition, expansion is taking place in meeting and exhibit facilities with now more than 300,000 square feet of public space available.
Besides the new sequence of dates, Tuesday through Saturday, we have moved back to the earlier dates in January which remain popular with mason contractors. Those who choose to take in the entire stay at Opryland will have the opportunity on Saturday evening to attend the Grand Ole Opry.
The exhibit hall, Ryman A, has some of the finest facilities available. Easy access to the hotel lobby and very desirable exhibit space with adequate loading dock facilities makes this a very attractive location. We are also adding show time demonstration of rough terrain forklifts in the hall to avoid any interference by inclement weather. The tentative schedule calls for the pre-conference seminars to start on Tuesday Noon, January 12, and continuing on through Wednesday. continued on page 35
Ground-level walkways and elevated promenades wind through the Conservatory giving guests an indoor tropical retreat regardless of the weather outside.
