'88 MCAA Conference Report

Nashville, TN, January 12-16, 1988

"The biggest and the best we have had in a long time."
"The 1988 Conference was great, as always. The only thing that was wrong was the weather, but MCAA is noted for that."
"We truly enjoyed participating."
"I thought the Nashville meeting and the Opryland Hotel were excellent."

These are just a few of the many comments heard about the '38th Annual MCAA Conference and Trade Show held at the Opryland Hotel, January 12-16. The entire mood was one of optimism and enthusiasm a desire to get MCAA programs moving and moving again in high gear. The attendance at the Seminars, Conference and Trade Show were the best in many years-thirty-five states and two provinces of Canada were represented.

PRE-CONFERENCE SEMINARS

Stone Panels II, moderated by Lenny Pardue, was an excellent follow-up of the first session held in Dallas last year. On Tuesday afternoon, January 12th, it started off with Dan Flanagan, Cold Springs Granite Company, giving an overview of the stone market and discussing briefly the market potential. This was followed by an engaging presentation by Jim Lee of Lee Industries, who discussed the various stone panel systems. His in-depth presentation gave the members a tremendous amount of knowledge on the subject. Wilbert Williams of the Dow Corning Corporation then discussed construction sealants and their part in the stone panel market. This was followed by Mike Merrigan, Masonry Institute of America, who discussed stone details utilizing the publication, "Marble and Stone Slab Veneer," authored by him and Jim Amrhein of the Masonry Institute of America. This book has proved invaluable to MCAA mem-
