Paving Brochure
A new 4-page illustrated brochure shows how precast concrete pavers can create distinctive driveways and parking areas. The brochure presents design ideas and technical information, with examples and photos from a variety of single- and multi-family residences.
Interlocking concrete pavers offer a wide variety of shapes, colors and patterns for residential pavement. The pavers are placed on a bed of sand and mechanically vibrated, usually with a plate compactor. The pavers interlock without the use of mortar and can be cut to fit any area. Concrete curbs, metal edging or treated wood can be used as edge restraints.
"Homebuilders Enhance Sales With Interlocking Concrete Pavers" was produced by the National Concrete Masonry Association and the Portland Cement Association. For a free copy, contact Glen Simon, Portland Cement Association, 5420 Old Orchard Road, Skokie, IL. 60077 (312/966-6200).

New Mortar Additive
Now being introduced to the U.S. construction market by Sika Corp., SikaCem 810 is a new cement-reactive additive that is reported to boost the performance of cementitious mortars. Protected by world-wide patents, the new additive is a silica-fume latex that among other benefits improve the cohesiveness, density, and finishing characteristics of conventional mortars. It imparts higher compressive and flexural strengths and lowers the mortar's permeability to water and chloride penetration. For additional information phone Sika Corp., at 800-631-7270 x510.
