The Saskatchewan Masonry Institute has established an Architectural Design Awards Program which is aimed at honoring the achievements of Canadian architects for their imaginative and creative use of unit masonry in construction in the Province of Saskatchewan. Winner of the first Award of Excellence was the Trianon Tower, Regina, designed by deLint & Taylor Architects, Inc.
The Trianon Tower is the highest structural unit masonry loadbearing building in Saskatchewan and possibly the third highest in Canada. This is Phase I of a two phased project and it houses 110 seniors' apartment units. The base of this tower contains a commercial strip which will link a planned second tower.
The building structure spans from the center core to the exterior loadbearing walls, leaving all interior partitions non-loadbearing. This facilitates imaginative partitioning of the interior space.
Spectacular panoramic views are possible from the top floor lounge area, and a ground floor lounge affords views of adjacent heritage properties.
