Survey Valuable Planning Tool

Copies of a "Marketing Planning Statistical Survey" that contains detailed information on production and sales of concrete masonry units in the U.S. are available from the national Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA), Herndon, Virginia.

The "Marketing Planning Statistical Survey" is an excellent planning tool for companies involved in the masonry industry or other aspects of the construction and building products industries.

The survey, which contains 1988 data, shows that sales of 8-by-8-by-16-inch equivalent units rose to 4.5196 billion in 1988, an increase of 11 percent over 1987 sales.

Dollar sales volume rose to $3.8 billion in 1988, up 6.4 percent from 1987.

The 11 percent gain in unit sales is all the more remarkable in light of a 7 percent drop in sales of common grey units, which, with sales of 3.10 billion units in 1988, constitute more than twice the volume of the 1.41 billion equivalent units that represent all other kinds of concrete masonry.

While sales of common block declined from 3.33 billion units in 1987 to 3.10 billion in 1988, sales of all other units almost doubled from 731.09 million in 1987 to 1.41 billion in 1988.

Concrete pavers posted a 22 percent gain, up from 54.04 million equivalent units in 1987 to 66.05 equivalent units in 1988.

Sales of concrete brick dropped from 68.29 million units in 1987 to 58.20 units in 1988, down 14.77 percent.

Additional national and regional statistics are available in the complete report, "1988 Market Planning Statistical Survey." The regular price of the survey is $100. The NCMA member discount price is $50. Specify order code FM2C when ordering.
