Perlite is better...

Perlite loose-fill masonry insulation is free flowing and completely fills all core holes, ear holes, mortar lines and every crevice thus assuring a completely insulated wall with no internal convection currents.

Perlite loose-fill masonry insulation is permanent and non-settling thus assuring the highest level of performance for the life of the wall.

The fire rating of 8 inch masonry block is doubled from 2 hours to 4 hours when its cores are filled with perlite loose-fill masonry insulation.

Perlite loose-fill masonry insulation is inorganic, asbestos-free, non-toxic and rot, vermin and termite resistant with a neutral pH.

Manufactured to conform to ASTM specification C-549.

Perlite loose-fill masonry insulation is noncombustible with a fusion point of approximately 2300°F.

Guarded hot box tests of full scale wall systems have proven that perlite loose-fill masonry fill insulation is superior to EPS inserts, EPS beads and vermiculite.
