Get to know the conference leader
While you may not be able to spend large blocks of time with the conference speaker, keep in mind that he or she probably has some "free" time before and after conference sessions, during coffee breaks, and at lunch. Conference leaders expect participants to talk with them informally during these periods, but are often surprised how few participants bother to approach them.
Don't hesitate to explore a topic in more depth with a speaker or ask to discuss it during break time. You may get a perspective on the issue that you wouldn't normally obtain during the "public" portion of the conference. And remember: conference speakers are usually a wealth of information about the topics they present. So you might also go away with candid advice, reading suggestions and even a great idea or two.

supervisors meeting highlighting the conference's key points, offering your impressions of the participants and the speaker, and airing your "action list" of ideas that you want your employees to work on in the months ahead.
Mobilize yourself for action
Don't put your action ideas away in a desk drawer. Start an idea file, consult it every week and add to it from time to time. Keep one or two key ideas in front of you at all times and take whatever steps are necessary to turn those ideas into solid, results oriented action plans.
The knowledge and ideas you bring back from the conference can become one of your major business assets. Mobilize yourself to use those assets and your conference will pay dividends to you for months and years to come.
Scaffold Warning Label Available
A FRAME scaffold warning label for use on frame and system scaffolds has been released by the Scaffolding. Shoring and Forming Institute and Scaffold Industry Association. The label was designed to increase the likelihood scaffold workers would seek out the safety guidelines available from their employers or read the guidelines supplied by manufacturers.
The label, which is self adhesive, should be attached to the scaffold so that a person can read the entire text without moving any portion of his body, other than his eyes. For more information or to order warning labels, contact the Scaffold Industry Association, 14039 Sherman Way, Van Nuys, California 91405. Phone 818/782-2012.
