Excellence in Masonry
Program Honors Winners

Masonry Institute of New York City and Long Island honors architects and masons at fourth annual Excellence in Masonry Awards Program.

More than eighty members and guests of the Masonry Institute of New York City and Long Island attended the Institute's fourth annual Excellence in Masonry Awards program and luncheon at the Helmsley Palace in New York City recently. Anthony J. Zotollo, chairman, presented two checks for $5,000 each to the winning architectural firms and commemorative plaques to the mason contractors and owners involved in the projects.

Checks were presented to Farrell, Bell and Lennard, architects who designed the institutional building winner, the York College Health and Physical Educational Facility in Jamaica, Queens; and design architect Cesar Pelli and Associates/Brennan Baer Gorman Associates, architect of record for the Carnegie Hall Tower on West 57th Street, New York City, the commercial/residential building winner.

Shortly after receiving a winner's check of $5,000 from Anthony Zotollo (right), project architect Malcom Roberts (center) of Csear Pelli and Associates, donated the check to the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. Accepting the check on behalf of the Trust was Mary Neustadter (left).

Applauding excellence in masonry, Lenore Lucey, AAIA, executive director of the New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects (left); and architect Der Scutt (right) representing the New York Building Congress, were in attendance at the awards luncheon at Helmsley Palace.
