MCAA Conference and Masonry Expo '93 Resounding Successes
Some 5,000 representatives of masonry companies from around the world attend MCAA's 43rd annual Conference and Masonry Expo '93 in San Diego
SOME 5,000 MEMBERS of the masonry industry, representing all industry disciplines, from all over the world the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia-converged on San Diego, California, February 25 through March 2 to attend Masonry Expo '93 and the annual meetings of a number of industry associations.
In conjunction with the exposition, the California Masonry Contractors Association, the Mason Contractors Association of America, the National Concrete Masonry Association, The Masonry Society and the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association held their annual meetings.
Masonry Expo '93, the fourth such cooperative all-industry event, sponsored by eight major national industry associations, showcased some 225 exhibitors who displayed the latest products, technologies and services for the masonry construction industry, ranging from admixtures and chemicals, to consulting services, hoists, mixers, machinery, scaffolding, water treatment systems and wheelbarrows. The exposition utilized some 150.000 square feet of exhibit space in the San Diego Convention Center, one of the country's newest, most modern facilities.
Surpassed last year's event
Although many considered the highly successful Orlando, Florida Masonry Expo '92 would be a hard act to follow, San Diego's event easily surpassed last year's exposition. Most exhibitors and contractors agreed that Masonry Expo '93 was the best ever, with buying and interest strongly "up" despite the sluggish economy. Overall theme for the event was The Power to Prosper.
MCAA's annual conference was launched on Thursday, February 24, with committee meetings from 8 am to noon. Committees meeting were marketing, membership, material handling, finance, safety, masonry review, insurance and education.
