Fast Track Church Addition Combines New and Old
Fast track church addition completed in less than six months, from ground breaking to completion, successfully combines the old with the new.
One of the initial goals of the trustees of Saint George's Episcopal Church in Belleville, Illinois in construction of their new 10,500 square foot addition was that the new work respect and complement their existing century-old Gothic church.
The new building on the ground and lower levels was constructed on a fast track schedule, with ground broken in July, 1991 and the congregation celebrating Christmas in their new sanctuary the same year.
As the color match of the brick veener was very important, the architects, Mackey Mitchell Associates, St. Louis, Missouri, made many tests.
