INSTITUTIONAL FIRST PLACE

Institutional First Place winner was the Russ Engineering Building in Fairborn, Ohio (above). First place industrial/commercial winner was the Cervantes Convention Center in St. Louis, Missouri (top photo, opposite page). First place residential winner was the Kitzmiller Residence in New Albany, Ohio (opposite page, lower photo).



Florence, Kentucky. The mason contractor was Don Salyers Masonry Incorporated of Florence, Kentucky. The architect was Jim Fearing of Fearing. Baur and Nilsen in Cincinnati, Ohio. The principal masonry supplier was Tate Builders Supply of Erlanger, Kentucky. The project was submitted by Don Salyers and TMI.



In the Industrial/Commercial category First Place was awarded to The Cervantes Convention Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The mason contractor was John J. Smith Masonry Company of St. Louis. The architects were Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum of St. Louis and the principal masonry supplier was Richard Brick Company also from St. Louis. The project was submitted by John J. Smith.



The First Runner Up was the New Albany Country Club in New Albany, Ohio. The mason contractor was Chet Baker and Company from Canal Winchester, Ohio. The architect was Cooper. Robertson/Dietrich Associates of New York City and the principal masonry supplier was Columbus Builders Supply of Columbus, Ohio. The project was submitted by Jeffrey C. Baker and the Masonry Institute of Columbus.



The Second Runner Up was the Kirke Van Orsdel Headquarters building in West Des Moines, Iowa. The mason contractor was Forrest and Associates in Des Moines, Iowa. The architect was Alan Bowman of Environmental Design located in West Des Moines. The principal masonry suppliers were Cold Springs Granite of Cold Springs, Minnesota and Iowa Concrete and Block. The general contractor was Taylor-Ball. The project was submitted by Richard C. Felice.

The project was submitted by Barbara Campbell of the Masonry Institute of Dayton.



The First Runner Up was the Baylor School and Chapel complex located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The mason contractor was Jenkins Masonry from Chattanooga. The architect was Gary Hilbert of Selmon T. Franklin Associates in Chattanooga. The principal masonry supplier was Key James Brick also from Chattanooga. The project was submitted by Teddy R. Jenkins.



The Second Runner Up was the Wexner Center for the Visual Arts located on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The mason contractor was Chet Baker and Company of Canal Winchester. Ohio. The architect was Trott/Eisenman Architects from Columbus. The principal mason supplier was Columbus Coal and Lime Company of Columbus. The project was submitted by Jeffrey C. Baker and the Masonry Institute of Columbus.



In the Residential category First Place was awarded to the Kitzmiller Residence in New Albany, Ohio. The mason contractor was Chet Baker and Company of Canal Winchester, Ohio. The architect was Thierry W. Despont of New York City. The principal mason supplier was Columbus Coal and Lime Company of Columbus, Ohio. The project was submitted by Jeffrey C. The architect was Dirk Danker of Nagle Hartray and Associates located in Chicago. The principal masonry supplier was Ramm Brick Company of LaGrange, Illinois. The project was submitted by Charles Ostrander and the Masonry Advisory Council.
