Veneering of paving stones isn't a replacement for traditional flexible installation methods, but rather is an enhancement to your installation, providing a homogenous look right up to the front door.

FACING OR Veneering of paving stones can add a new dimension to your traditional base/sand set paving stone installations. The terms facing or veneering refer to the adhesive application of paving stones to concrete substrates. This specialized application is not a replacement for the traditional flexible installation methods, but rather enhances your installation with the ability of providing a completely homogenous look right up to the front door.
Adhesive facing or veneering is accomplished by bonding the paving stones to either existing or new concrete steps, stoops, walks, patios, etc. The concrete should be in sound condition, which means it should not have structural cracking, or spauling (good on top of bad will only perpetuate failure).
You should insure that it has proper drainage and that the added thickness of the paving stones will work with the threshold height considerations.
