THE LAST WORD
ADVERTISING...
It appears that the earliest documentation of advertising seems to go back about 3000 years BC. Probably some of the first art forms made where objects made of clay, such as pottery and bricks. Temples made by the Babylonians used bricks with their inscriptions on them. These inscriptions where probably made with stencils made from chiseled stone. The bricks advertised the king that built the temple in which the bricks where used, just like the modern craftsman of today who may identify their art-form with their name or logo.
More recent history shows early merchants, advertised by hanging a shingle or signboard outside their shop door, which probably only happened when the Growth in community population warranted it. These early enterprising merchants where probably shop keepers of a tavern or coffee house.
How things have changed... now we find while we were sleeping, our fax machine went bump during the night and burped out some advertising copy and left on it our desk before we even had time to get our first cup of coffee.
Now here is my point. Many suppliers and manufacturers advertise in MASONRY MAGAZINE. It is important to point out that they help our membership by sharing some of the cost of producing your magazine and help your association membership achieve their goals. And in turn the advertisers in MASONRY MAGAZINE benefit by knowing that they have wisely and prudently invested their advertising dollar. They are aware that their ad will be sent directly to the desk of the shareholders and owners of this magazine... the mason contractor. That is smart and prudent target marketing at its best.
I respectfully urge our membership to remember and consider our advertisers when it is time to upgrade, rent, purchase material or in need of a service. Remember... say you saw it in MASONRY MAGAZINE.
