Six Projects Honored in Building Stone Institute
1998 Tucker Architectural Awards Program
Six projects were honored with a 1998 Tucker Award for architectural excellence by Building Stone Institute. Presentation of the awards was made at a luncheon, April 24, at the New York Palace, before an audience of 200 members of the architectural and design community. Presenting the awards was Harold Roth, FAIA, principal of Roth and Moore Architects, New Haven, Connecticut, who served as chairman of the architectural awards jury.
Unique in awards programs in the building industry, Tucker Award entries are judged by an independent panel of architects without the participation of any member of the industry. The sole criterion is EXCELLENCE: Excellence in concept, design, construction and use of natural stone.
In addition to Mr. Roth, the 1998 jury included Richard S. Bergmann, FAIA, Richard Bergmann Architects, New Canaan, Connecticut and Bradford White Fiske, AIA, Principal, Kling Lindquist, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The winning projects are:
San Francisco Main Library, San Francisco, California. Architect: Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, New York, New York and Simon Martin-Vegue Winkelstein Moris Associated Architect, San Francisco, California.
