Today's modern, high powered sophisticated rough terrain forklift evolved from a lowly brick buggy with a straight mast that could lift no more than a 1,000 pounds about 30 inches. This development in the early 1950's was a dramatic improvement in the method of handling brick over the hod and wheelbarrow.
