Another unique feature has been added by Gehl, the Select-A-Boom system, which offers the contractor a wider range of reach and lift capacity options within each model category. The system is designed to help contractors choose a machine that will give them the lift and reach capacity best tailored to their operation. To their "DL"-Series Dynalift they expand the line with the addition of a 55-ft. boom on their 10,000 lb. rated models. This boom option allows a 5,500-lb. load to be lifted to a 55-ft. maximum height.
Traverse Lift has introduced two new models, the F636 and the F644, telescopic material handlers with 6000 lb lift capacity and 36 and 44 ft lifting height respectively. The machines are capable of lifting 2000 lbs at max forward reach of 24 ft for the 636 and 30 ft. 3 inches for the 644. The units combine a low profile design with complete visibility, a turning radius of 11 ft. 6 inches, a center-mounted engine and a narrow frame width to provide maximum stability and productivity. The triple function steering 3-speed powershift transmission; and a Cummins, 4 cylinder 100 hp engine are standard.

Firms have expanded their lines of Rough Terrain Forklifts to offer greater flexibility to the mason contractor. Ingersoll-Rand has introduced the VR-843 as their heavy-duty/high reaching telescopic material handler. The VR-843 has an 8000 lb lift capacity and a maximum lift height 43 ft.1 inch with a forward reach of 28 ft 4 inches. The overall height of 95 inches in the carry position and the ability to carry a load under an 8 ft. overhang are additional benefits of the machine.
