most stable machines in its class. The unit has a sliding engine hood which provides full access to all service points. The engine hood, fuel and hydraulic caps are all lockable to deter vandalism.

New firms and names are also appearing, such as Terex Handlers of Baraga, MI. They have introduced a new series of Rough Terrain Forklifts featuring telescopic booms. They range from a 5,500 lb. capacity machine with a 28-foot lift to a unit with a 10,000-lb. capacity and a 48-ft. lift. A new model TH8043 with a 7,716-lb. capacity and a 45-ft. lift has a telescopic boom that rotates 360 degrees. The unit has four stabilizers and an electroproportional joystick.

As you can see, the engineering departments have been in the field to see what the needs of the mason contractor are in today's competitive masonry market place. Trak International looked at the human element, the operator and added to many of its models a soft cab enclosure to protect the operator from the harsh elements of wind, rain and snow. A Millennia series was introduced in early 1998 which is a low pivot/high capacity variable reach Rough Terrain Forklift that is 8 inches lower to clear doorways easier and 9 inches longer for more stability with the turning radius 25 inches less for grater maneuverability. Sporting a new look, the 6036 gives convenient access and 360 degree visibility, with an easy to use joy stick that controls the movements of the boom giving precise control. The controls are Sky Trak 3606 JCB 550 mounted on the dashboard and are easily accessible. To top it all off, the unit is equipped with a tilting steering wheel, cup holder, an automotive-style climate control and a deluxe seat with headrest and retractable seat belt.

Carelift has now increased their payload capacities up to 20,000 lbs. and they're lifting heights to 54 ft. The "Zoom Boom" has a heavy-duty contoured frame designed to protect the drive train components.

Redesigned units are also being offered by, Deere, Eagle-Picher, K-D Manitou, Caterpillar, JCB, Tovel, Dahmer, Sellick and other major Rough Terrain Forklift manufacturers.

What many of us thought was the ultimate Rough Terrain Forklift has now been transformed into an efficient, safer material-handling device to meet the needs of the next millennium. Deere CareLift
