This is the earliest of the three theaters in this cose study. It does not have the tollest walls, but it incorporates 16 stodium seated theaters, architectural concrete masonry exterior walls and sound and fire-proof block portitions.
Mulligan Masonry Co., Inc. was able to complete the masonry work on this job in just 3 months. Remember that with a system like this, there is no lead time. With a pre-cost system, one hos to deal with up to 20 weeks of lead time associated with the casting and delivering the wall panels.
Mulligan constructed these toll and somewhat complex decorative exterior wolls ot less than $16.00 per square foot. The exterior wolls are not just smooth Concrete Masonry. They consist of alternating painted split face block and smooth face block in a variety of patterns. The front elevation features a checkered pottem created with smooth face and split face units. Engaged split face pilasters, also on the front facade, help break up this rather wide elevation and make an attractive visual effect.
These single wythe concrete masonry walls ore protected by Thorseal products. A bose coat of Thoro Block Filler was applied directly to the concrete block. THORO BLOCK FILLER fills the pores in concrete or block walls and provides a uniform surface for the application of a wide variety of compatible water based coatings Two coats of acrylic Thorocoot Smooth was then used to finish the exterior walls. It is specifically designed to waterproof, protect and decorate exterior walls such as these. A quali-ty coating system is important to create a long lasting and attractive finish.
