A shining example of leadership and the importance of relational skills within an association is Mario De Marinis, President of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association.
Paul Odem attends an MCAA industry marketing committee meeting this past February. This committee is making plans to conduct a third Architects' Masonry Symposium.
Mario DeMarinis (for right), President of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association takes time to take a photo with the Canadian apprentices working on a Habitat the Humanity Masonry Home built in Las Vegas in conjunction with THE MASONRY SHOW. Mario DeMarinis brainstormed the idea to use the U.S. and Canadian Apprentices competing on the Masonry Skills Challenge to help build a home for a less fortunate family.
Mario, although busy as an active partner within their family-owned, masonry-contracting firm, has tirelessly served CMCA over the past three years with a quiet demeanor and an ability to build consensus through trust.
He has been a director with CMCA for many years and has served on numerous technical committees and industry boards. As Chairman of 'h Contracts Document Committee and liaison with the Canadian Construction Association, Mario has actively pursued the best interests of masonry contractors and the masonry industry. He is well respected by his peers and gained acceptance at all levels of the industry by putting action behind his words.
MCAA has also benefited from Mario's leadership within CMCA as he has actively forged a new dialogue with our directorate and sought a renewed "community" of masonry employers from both Canada and the United States.
