Masonry Showcase Farewell Banquet at MCAA PAC Luncheon
Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom
Saturday, 7:00 - 10:30 PM
After an incredible stay in Orlando, guests of the 2001 Masonry Showcase will enjoy an exclusive evening of adventure at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Upon entering, guests will encounter the park's principal icon, the Tree of Life. Towering 145 feet high, images of 325 mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects are intricately carved into its trunk and branches. Inside the theater everyone will enjoy a private showing of "It's Tough to be a Bug", a humorous and exciting adventure in the miniature world of insects. Then it's on to DinoLand USA for a full meal and to experience a small town transformed into a research lab when dinosaur bones are discovered. At the Dinosaur attraction, guests can participate in the Dino Institute's latest experiment- a time machine. Take the journey back 65 million years through a primeval forest in a desperate race to save the last dinosaur from extinction. The last adventure of the evening will be a live performance of the Festival of the Lion King! This is an event you do not want to miss!
Thursday, 12:00-1:00 PM
Rosen Plaza Hotel
The MCAA Political Action Committee continues to work on Capitol Hill to protect the future of the masonry industry. Join other members in MCAA's effort to support federal political candidates who share this industry's views on matters that directly affect your business. The luncheon is a great way to support your industry while on break before the Annual Meeting. (Personal contribution of $125 per person for this result producing cause.)

MCAA Builds Second Habitat for Humanity Home
Friday, February 23, 2001
The MCAA has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando to build a second masonry home. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that provides home ownership for local low-income families with the help of people, companies and churches donating their time, materials and money. The homes are built and sold at no profit and with no interest to working families who otherwise might live in substandard housing.
The MCAA has developed plans to build a home in 1 day with a labor force of masonry apprentices and architects from around the United States and Canada. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd year apprentices will be competing in the Masonry Skills Challenge later this week at the Masonry Showcase and have offered a day of their services for this worthwhile cause. The Architects participating on the project will be completing the "hands on" portion of their 3-day intensive training within the masonry industry.
