Architectual Awards
The Kentuckiana Masonry Institute, Louisville, Ky., presented awards to several architects and firms at its 22nd annual awards luncheon. The program recognizes excellence in architectural design and presents awards to the architect, structural engineer, mason contractor and owner in six categories.
▲ "M" Honor Award
Presented to JRA Architects, Louisville for their design of the new Corporate Headquarters for Farm Credit Services of Mid-America. Structural Engineer: PDR Engineers. Mason Contractor: River City Development, an MCAA member in Louisville.
Judges Comments: "The jury was very impressed with this thorough and thoughtful design. The brick details were carried through, integrating and expressing structure as well as surface articulation. This project, more than any other, best exemplifies the criteria for honoring excellence in masonry."

The Brick Award of Honor went to Louis & Henry Group, Louisville for their design of the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium in Louisville. Structural Engineer: Qk4. Mason Contractor: PCM Construction, an MCAA member in Louisville.
Judges Comments: "Impressive use of brick as a unifying device, at once as a volumetric defining element and as a freestanding screen, defining outdoor space. Clever masonry fenestration and articulation are utilized to symbolize the relationships to celestial occurrences."
