Awards honors
eight projects
The 2002 Tucker Architectural Awards of excellence from the Building Stone Institute went to eight projects around the country. These awards, unique in that they are judged by an independent panel of architects, without participation of any industry members, are based on excellence in concept, design, construction and use of natural stone.
Residential Structure Award: Little Lake Lodge, Aspen, Co. Architect-Urban Design Group; Stone supplier and installer-MCAA-member The Gallegos Corporation, Vail, Co.
Renovation or Restoration Award Graham Chapel Addition, Washington University, St. Louis, Mo. Architect-Vinci/Hamp Architects; Stone installer-Leonard Masonry, St. Louis. Mo.
Other projects given awards include: (a) the Gateway Center, University of Minnesota in Minneapolis: (b) Temple Beth-El, FL. Worth, Texas: (c) Mira Monte Village, Henderson, Nev.; (d) Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, New York City, (e) A Private Residence, Westwood, Massachusetts: (f) The National Japanese American Memorial to Patriotism, World War II, Washington, D.C.
