According to Kenney, the units price out to about $250 a square foot. Pricey to some people, but this project was designed as an urban project where customers expect to get less space for the dollar, Kenney said.

"These are not Boston prices," he said, adding that comparable prices in Boston's Back Bay could be as high as $800 per square foot.

New Mexico

Members of the state's Construction Industries Commission recently approved a blended group of 2003 Uniform and 2003 International building codes that establish and update standards for the state's construction industry.

"This was three years in the making and it's a good compromise," says Dale Dekker, commission member and principal with Dekker Perich Sabatini.

"We really needed consistent building codes throughout the state," he says.

New Mexico's Uniform Building Codes have not been updated since 1997. The state was one of a few that had not adopted all or parts of the newer International Building Codes (I-codes). Officials say the updated codes could help licensed workers find work outside of New Mexico...

Codes are revised every three years, and to date 44 other states and the Department of Defense have adopted all or parts of the I-codes...

The World of Concrete World of Masonry show, produced by Hanley-Wood, will be held at the Orange County Convention Center from February 17-20th (seminars will be held the February 16-20th).
