MASONRY WALLBRACING DESIGN HANDBOOK

The MCAA has developed a design handbook for wall bracing which assists contractors with the design of masonry wall bracing. Over 700 wall configurations are schematically diagrammed in a very easy to follow format. Because the engineering design calculations are done adhering to the current Standard Practice for Bracing Masonry Walls Under Construction, it is OSHA compliant to provide "adequate bracing for masonry walls over 8 feet in height" in most bracing conditions. This book is a must have for project managers and foremen for all mason contractors, general contractors, and structural engineers that want the ease of designing wall bracing in minutes.

There are over 700 different wall bracing scenarios provided. If your wall is unreinforced or reinforced, you have a fixed base or pinned base, you are building with 8" CMU or 12" CMU, this design handbook shows the proper placement of the wall bracing. Each diagram will have design loads and diagrams of how high your wall can be built and exactly where your wall bracing needs to be placed. There will also be a section on how to brace the most common wall openings such as doors, windows, and overhead doors. This handbook is a must have for ALL contractors and designers.

THE STANDARD PRACTICE FOR BRACING MASONRY WALLS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

This Standard Practice was developed by the Council for Masonry Wall Bracing to provide mason contractors, general contractors, architects and engineers with a detailed definition of adequate bracing for masonry walls. It was developed to clarify the existing OSHA requirements. The Standard Practice was written by structural engineers, mason contractors and other masonry industry professionals who desired to provide a healthy and safe workplace for the masonry and construction industry's personnel.
