where much of the emphasis on building is in keeping costs down...
AvRutick says, "Not everything you're building needs to last 100 or 200 years; but certainly government buildings, schools and religious institutions are going to be around. It will be a good economic decision to hire these people because it will last."

"Masonry Variations"
Exhibit Captures 2004
Prism Grand Prize
The "Stone Curtain" portion of the "Masonry Variations" exhibit at the National Building Museum has been awarded the Grand Prize of the 2004 PRISM Stone in Architecture Awards. The awards honor outstanding examples of architectural achievement in the use of natural stone, and are open to architects and design professionals. The prize was announced at Coverings 2004, in Orlando, Florida, on March 23, 2004.
The "Masonry Variations" exhibition, which ran from October 2003 until April 2004, explored the possible future applications of some of the world's oldest - and newest - building materials: stone, brick, terrazzo and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). It also underscored the value of designer/craftworker collaboration.
