SIA Announces New President
Howard Schapira, President of Phoenix-based Action Equipment and Scaffold Company, was sworn in at the beginning of August as the President of the Scaffold Industry Association (SIA), the international building trades organization that represents the interests of the scaffold and access industry. The ceremony took place during SIA's international convention in Salt Lake City.

In his acceptance speech, Schapira emphasized the importance of inter-industry relationships and growth. "We, the SIA, need to build better relationships with our industry partners," said Schapira. "The SIA intends to establish that there is a direct value to what we as a coordinated group of manufacturers and dealers have to offer our customers."

Schapira has been an active member of the SIA for 28 years. He has held various positions in the organization previously, including First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Activism in the SIA has also been a family affair for Howard Schapira. His father, Jerry Schapira, is a founding member and a Past President of the SIA. Nearly all of Schapira's family joined him in Salt Lake City for the ceremony.

The likely timeframe for the posting of this closure is October 15, 2004.
