ARIZONA MASONRY GUILD ANNOUNCES ARCHITECTURAL AWARD WINNERS

The 13th Annual Excellence in Masonry Architectural Awards program honored its award-winning homes and commercial buildings during a special banquet held at the Scottsdale Marriott Camelback Inn on Oct. 22, 2004. The program honored 11 projects for outstanding masonry design, workmanship and creativity with the use of brick, block or stone.

A total of 29 entries from throughout Arizona were submitted for this year's awards program. Entries were judged by a distinguished panel of architects, a mason contractor and a masonry supplier, all from Utah, including: Brent R. Tippets, AIA and Principal of VCBO Architects, Inc.; Solim Gasparik, AIA and Architect with VCBO Architects: Mark Hedman, Interstate Brick: Alan Johnson, IMS Masonry; and Fred L Thalmann, AIA and Architect.

An award was presented to the architectural firm, mason contractor, structural engineering firm, general contractor and masonry supplier for each winning project.
