masonry construction history. The MIT supports high school programs and apprenticeship programs across the state and is proud to announce masonry instructor, Steve Cheatwood, and his students as its newest partner.

The construction of the new facility would not be possible without the generous donations of MIT members. Also, 4,200 blocks, 25,000 bricks, 300 bags of mortar, door frames, shovels, hard hats and doors were donated by Alley-Cassetty Brick, Brown's Concrete Products, Capitol City Scaffolding and Equipment, Enco Materials, General Shale Brick, LoJac Materials, Red River Concrete Products, Sequatchie Concrete Service and Southland Brick and Block.

Washington, D.C. Learn why the construction industry is the largest employer in the country at the National Building Museum's Careers in Construction Expo on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, from 9:00 am. to 3:00 pm. at the National Building Museum. The free, one-day expo will introduce middle and high school students to the skills needed and training available for a variety of rewarding careers in the construction industry. Students can participate in hands-on demonstrations including bricklaying, power tools, computer-aided drafting (CAD), heavy equipment, painting, landscaping and much more.

Students and teachers can learn first-hand about the numerous opportunities available in the building and design industry, and meet professionals representing the design, development, construction and project management facets of the industry. Throughout the day, students can participate in panel discussions and learn about the construction industry's need for new, skilled craftspeople - more than 240,000 new professionals are needed each year just to keep up with the nation's demands.

In addition to many hands-on activities, representatives from community colleges, universities and training programs will be available to discuss a range of training options, apprenticeships, scholarships and degree-granting programs. Careers in Construction Expo 2006 is sponsored by Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. and Future Force Now.

The Careers in Construction Expo is free; advance registration is required. Registration is for school groups. Visit www.nbm.org/construction_career.html to register online, or contact Sarah Rice at (202) 272-2448, ext. 3305 or srice@nbm.org for more information.

MCAA Welcomes New Staff Members
The Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) is pleased to welcome two new staff members.

Jessica Johnson Bennett recently joined the MCAA as director of government affairs. She brings to the Association an extensive background in public affairs and government.

The Compleat Benefits Solution™ Welcomes BenCom
Freddie McMahan
McMahan Insurance and Employee Benefits
McMahan Insurance and Employee Benefits is pleased to announce that BenCom has joined The Compleat Benefits Solution as a participating vendor. Ben Com is a full service employee benefits consulting firm and will compliment the existing products and services that are currently part of The Compleat Benefits Solution, a program endorsed by the Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA).

BenCom's focus on technology makes them one of the most efficient and technologically advanced benefits communication and enrollment firms in the country and a natural fit for The Compleat Benefits Solution, providing customized solutions for the MCAA membership. Their client list has included executive level experience with Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 companies. BenCom's tools and expertise, such as having their own multimedia studio where they can develop and produce innovative, proprietary benefits communications tools, result in increased employee understanding and appreciation of the value of employee benefits.

BenCom's Retirement Plan Services Department, provided by BenCom Financial LLC, can help those MCAA members enrolled in the plan to design and implement a qualified retirement plan for their company; if a retirement plan is already in place, BenCom can help make your plan be the most effective for both employees and key executives.

The Compleat Benefits Solution includes the best-case products, practices and services from some of the nation's leading insurance carriers, third-party administrators and human resource outsourcing firms. The name "Compleat" was chosen because it signifies a highly developed, wide-ranging array of products/services, a level of proficiency that's continually being upgraded, as opposed to the word "complete," which signifies that nothing needs to be added to it, it's done.

Since its inception in April 2004, The Compleat Benefits Solution has been busy providing quotes to MCAA members for health insurance, dental and voluntary products, and just recently a large mason contractor joined the ranks as a client of The Compleat Benefits Solution.

For information concerning The Compleat Benefits Solution, call (800) 208-4848, e-mail thecompleatbenefitssolution@gmail.com, or visit MCAA's website at www.masoncontractors.org.
