Ford F-150
FORD'S 2008 F-150 models join the lineup of more than 60 F-Series trucks. Five new series are available: XL, STX, XTL, FX4 and Lariat. The trucks come with regular cab, SuperCab, or SuperCrew, three box lengths, and two boxes styles.
The F-150 offers three engine choices: 4.2-liter V-6, 4.6-liter Triton V-8, and 5.4-liter Triton V8, for towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. The Triton engine has three valves per cylinder, variable cam timing, increased power, quieter operation and improved fuel efficiency. A flex-fuel version can use E85.
"Segment-first torque-based electronic throttle control uses driver input from the accelerator pedal to actively modulate the torque at the drive wheels," says Ford. "The technology produces a seamless and consistent engine response, improved fuel economy and enhanced integration of vehicle systems."
The truck offers a 3,050-pound payload capacity. A rearview camera system gives a view behind the truck. The video image is displayed in the rearview mirror.
