Euclid Chemical Acquires Productos Cave S.A. - Chile
Cleveland-based Euclid Chemical Co. has acquired Productos Cave S.A., Santiago, Chile. Terms were not disclosed. Productos Cave S.A. is a manufacturer of high-performance restoration, waterproofing and concrete admixture products for various segments of the concrete and masonry construction industry throughout Chile.
JLG Opens California Center
JLG Industries Inc., a subsidiary of Oshkosh Truck Corp., opened its fourth major U.S. ServicePlus Center to provide local aftermarket support for JLG customers in California, Nevada and Arizona. JLG's newest customer support center, located in Riverside just south of Los Angeles, provides equipment service, mobile tech support, parts stocks and used equipment for JLG equipment rental and distribution customers. Customers also can schedule operator, service and product training classes at the center.
JLG's other North American ServicePlus Centers are located in Bedford, Pa., Houston and Atlanta. JLG also has service facilities throughout Europe and Australia, including a recondition facility in Tonneins, France.
Natural Stone Council to Assess Industry
The Natural Stone Council (NSC), a collaborative organization representing business and trade associations that promote stone under the Genuine Stone brand, will launch an industry-wide survey to assess environmental performance in early-2008.
In partnership with the Center for Clean Products at The University of Tennessee (UT), a data collection tool has been developed and will be distributed to U.S. quarries and fabricators in early-January. The natural stone industry will be asked to provide information about production processes, energy and water usage, and other components of daily operations that may impact the environment. 2008 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 National Competition
The SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 is the largest bricklaying competition in the world, allowing masons to compete in 20 two-man teams, building a specified 26-foot, double-wythe, masonry brick wall in only 60 minutes. The judging of the competition is based on a combination of quality craftsmanship and the amount of brick laid. This year, masons from the United States, Canada and Britain will compete for the World's Best Bricklayer title.
You can see this competition live at the 2008 World of Concrete/World of Masonry on Jan. 23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas. The event live on the Web free at www.specmixbricklayer500.com and has $150,000 in cash and prizes given to the winners of the bricklaying competition. The grand prize is a new 2008 Ford F-250 XLT SuperCab 4X4 truck with custom wheels. Thousands of spectators will watch these masons compete for top prizes in competitive bricklaying. IMAS
