Sweet Named VP, Global Marketing, Doosan Infracore Portable Power
Doosan Infracore Portable Power named Shawn R. Sweet to VP for global marketing. Sweet will be responsible for strategic marketing initiatives worldwide. Previously, Sweet was VP of sales for North America for Ingersoll Rand. Ingersoll Rand Utility Equipment was acquired by Doosan Infracore in late-2007 and became Doosan Infractore Portable Power.
IMI Grout Certification
The International Masonry Institute (IMI) can deliver grout training and IMAS certification right to the jobsite, where craftworkers get project-specific experience. IMI also offers instruction at the training centers, where even apprentices are exposed to the concept. BAC locals send instructors to the Flynn Center for train-the-trainer certification.
Orzechowski Named Engineering Manager, DITEQ Diamond Tools & Equipment
DITEQ Diamond Tools & Equipment named Mike Orzechowski as engineering manager. Orzechowski's expertise in floor prep equipment will be a tremendous asset as the company expands its product line to capitalize on this growing market segment. During his 20-year engineering career, Orzechowski held the position of engineering manager for Equipment Development Co. and was a principal in an automation equipment design and manufacturing business.
News From the MCAA International Masonry Skills Challenge winners
The ninth-annual International Masonry Skills Challenge was held at the 2008 MCAA Convention in Las Vegas during World of Concrete/World of Masonry in January. Contestants in first, second-and third-year skill levels throughout the country had three hours to construct a project based on the materials provided. All winners received trophies and tool bags. In addition, first-place winners took home $1,000, second-place winners received $500, while $250 was awarded to third-place winners.
First-year apprentice winners were:
First Place: Derrick Stone-Rick Stone Masonry, Helotes, Texas
Second Place: Nick Martin Leidal and Hart Mason Contractors Inc., Livonia, Mich.
Third Place: Jose Lara Navarrow Diablo Valley Masonry Industry, Sacramento, Calif.
