Speed Clip Turns 10, Celebrates with Contests

Speed Clips were first created 10 years ago by movie industry grip Damian Costa to solve headaches on the movie set when he needed a quick and easy way to attach material to railings.

Speed Clips is now expanding its market to the scaffolding and construction industries. Speed Clips are made of high-quality materials. They are easy to go on and easy to come off, have no sharp edges and snags to contend with, are heat resistant, and will not relax in high temperatures. They are strong, durable and long lasting, and they can be used over and over again. Speed Clips also save time and money.

Speed Clips come in two sizes that attach virtually any type of fabric or plastic sheeting (Visqueen) to 1 1/4-inch id. for scaffolding, piping and more, 1 1/2-inch i.d. suitable for 2x4, 2x6 or any 2x lumber, and more.

The 10-year anniversary of Speed Clips is being celebrated through three contests: 1) Most Innovated Use of Speed Clips, 2) The Most Used Number of Speed Clips on a Job, and 3) A general drawing of users and future users of Speed Clips. For each contest the lucky winner will be awarded the choice of either $100 or a box of 50 Deluxe Speed Clips (value of $175).

Submit your name, phone number and email address, contest number you are entering, and description of job and/or photos (for contests 1 and 2) to Damian Costa at damian@SpeedClip.net, or mail entries to 21017 Gresham Str., #11, Canoga Park, CA 91304. Contest deadline is June 15, 2010, and the winner will be announced July 1, 2010. For more information, call 818-402-9371. The ProSeries Mast climber makes it easier to replace aging mast climbers, because of its modular bridging being compatible with other mast climbers on the market.

Healthcare construction happening in the West

More than half of architecture and engineering firms see the West Coast as the action market for healthcare construction in 2010, a new ZweigWhite survey has shown. Results of the survey are being published in the new Zweig White quarterly report, titled Market Advisor.

The report is part of the March 20 edition of The Zweig Letter, Zweig White's flagship weekly management journal. Additional Market Advisor reports, to be published at the end of each quarter, will focus on different market sectors.

More than half of respondents to the healthcare survey said that the West Coast is where the work is, with 28 percent saying the Southwest is the hottest geographic area, and 24 percent pointing to the Northwest. The Northeast and the Midwest, both at 16 percent, also fared well. Only 4 percent of respondents pointed to the international arena as where they see potential in 2010.

"Southern California is an active aging market," says Edward Caruana, president of cla Architects from Long Beach, Calif. "We feel health facilities, whatever complexion they take on in the future, will be needed in this busy area."

Among significant findings:
* 37 percent of respondents are optimistic about healthcare being a hot market this year, but 40 percent are in the "wait and see mode," and 23 percent are not touching it
* 44 percent of respondents say new hospital projects will lead healthcare in 2010, a significant percentage (32 percent) say they will work mostly on renovations and upgrades, due to lack of funding for all-new facilities.
