The cooperation is for the production and support of Caterpillar mini excavators up to 3 tons. The aim of the cooperation is that the two parties form a long-term strategic alliance. The agreement, with a term of 20 years, includes the development and manufacture of mini excavators with an operating weight of up to 3 tons, designed to Caterpillar's specifications at Wacker Neuson's production plant in Linz, Austria.
Continental Crane Buys Carde Pacific
The assets of Carde Pacific were sold to Continental Crane Co. Both companies served the Los Angeles and San Diego metro areas, and were headquartered about a mile apart. Continental Crane has changed its name to Carde Pacific, and will continue to operate at the Continental Crane facility. The new Carde Pacific rental fleet boasts more than 60 rough terrain, all terrain, and crawler cranes for rent, as well as a large inventory of boom trucks and hydraulic truck cranes from Terex, Comedil, American, Manitowoc, Link-Belt, Grove and Liebherr. All of Carde Pacific cranes meet Tier 3 emission standards and are maintained to the highest standards for optimum performance and reliability.
In addition to being the top source for Los Angeles crane rental, the new Carde Pacific will be among the largest Kobelco and Terex crane dealers in the United States. In addition, adding the inventory and personnel from Carde will create one of the largest and most networked crane parts and crane service companies in California.
United Rentals Expands Safety Training for Customers
United Rentals announced the implementation of three key initiatives that expand customer access to safety training in the United States and Canada. The equipment rental industry's largest training platform has been further enhanced with: A new online portal with downloadable schedule and email enrollment. The Training and Safety site is found in the Service Center on www.unitedrentals.com. Expanded availability of OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training, now offered through United Rentals certified instructors across the U.S. A new Excavator Training and Certification program, including instruction in the safe handling of heavy equipment and productivity techniques, scheduled to launch Sept. 1.
"As the industry leader, we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to encourage jobsite safety," says Lee Braden, manager of safety training for United Rentals. "This includes staying on top of customer needs as well as the regulatory environment. We are advocating safety by putting our resources into educating as many workers as possible on proper equipment operation and accident prevention. Already this year, more than 6,000 contractors have completed the Confined Space Entry/Competent Person Training provided by our Trench Safety team - a new six-month milestone in this one area alone."
