Assessment in OSHA's health standards directorate, who died in 1996. The programs receiving grants are designed to prevent work related injuries, illnesses and deaths by providing the knowledge and tools that workers and employers need to identify and correct workplace safety and health hazards. This grant program is an important component of OSHA's efforts to provide workers in high-risk industries with training about job hazards and their rights. It also provides employers with crucial information about unsafe working conditions, mitigation strategies and their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. Miles-McClellan Construction has received two awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors, which were presented Aug. 26 at the Central Ohio Chapter's 2010 Annual Safety Luncheon and Awards Program in Columbus. Miles-McClellan was honored with the 2010 Accredited Quality Contractor award and the ABC Gold Level Step Award.
The Women in Concrete Alliance (WICA) has announced the call for entries for their first Woman of Distinction award, which was created to celebrate women in the industry. To submit a nomination, visit the News/Events page at www.womeninconcrete.org. The deadline for all nominations is Oct. 15, 2010. After the nominations are received, members of the industry will have the opportunity to vote on their choice, and the winner will be announced Feb. 1, 2011. IMAS
