Sioux Names Production Manager

Sioux is pleased to announce the promotion of Eric Hansen to production manager. Hansen began his career at Sioux in 2007 as a design engineer, whereby he value-engineered Sioux products, designed custom machines, and implemented improvements to existing product lines. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters of Science Degree in Industrial Management from South Dakota State University. Hansen spent his graduate assistantship teaching undergraduate fabrication classes and worked as a mechanical engineering intern at Sioux.

Bonsal American Names Director of Sustainability

Meredith Ware has joined Bonsal American Inc. as director of sustainability. Ware is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) and will marshal and expand the company's sustainability initiatives. She also will work collaboratively with other product and process sustainability initiatives underway across other divisions of Oldcastle, of which Bonsal is a division.

Previously, Ware was sustainability director for Serious Materials Inc. in California's Silicon Valley. Most recently, Ware was COO of Clean Concrete Technologies Inc. in San Francisco.

Multiquip Wins Contractor's Choice Awards

Multiquip Inc. has won two 2010 Contractor's Choice Awards. Presented annually by Roads & Bridges magazine, the awards showcase 21 categories of the best products and equipment being offered to the marketplace. Only professionals using the products and equipment can cast votes for the winners. Multiquip received a Silver award in the Work-Zone Safety (Lights) category for their GloBug Lighting Systems, which makes jobs such as nighttime road repairs safer for both workers and motorists. Additionally, Multiquip won a Bronze award in the Concrete Pavers category for their SP706036/Street Pro Road Saw. The engineering of this saw reduces operator strain and fatigue, while lessening the chance of back injury.

Brick Veneer Keeps Walls Drier than Many Other Materials

An independent third-party building products laboratory has recently completed a year-long field moisture study entitled "Moisture Performance Comparison of Typical Residential Wall Assemblies." The project's objective was to determine how exterior cladding can impact the moisture content of the wooden components in the wall construction, and the research was funded by the Brick Industry Association (BIA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Products Laboratory, and the US. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The results are in. Of the eight wall systems tested, which account for roughly 90 percent of the cladding systems used today, brick veneer wall assemblies performed the best overall in controlling moisture.
