McCarthy Honored by Veterans First
Veterans First of Orange County, Calif., recently honored McCarthy Building Cos with a OneOC Spirit of Volunteerism 2012 Outstanding Volunteer Award. The OneOC Spirit of Volunteerism Awards event honors the service of the individuals, teams and businesses that make the Orange County community a stronger and more vibrant place to live, work and play.
Veterans First, a non-profit rehabilitation facility that provides housing and financial assistance to homeless and low-income military veterans in Orange County, chose McCarthy to receive the volunteerism award for the facility improvement project the firm conducted at the Veterans First housing complex in Anaheim. McCarthy volunteers helped with the Veterans First service project through the McCarthy Heart Hats, a volunteer community outreach group that enables McCarthy employees to dedicate time and resources to community involvement on paid workdays.
ARA Foundation Awards 29 Scholarships
Twenty-nine students' educational goals just became a little easier to achieve, thanks to the $54,500 worth of ARA Foundation and affiliate scholarships awarded for the 2012/2013 academic year, including the new Bill Loomer Houston Rental Association Scholarship and the ARA of California Scholarships. The recipients are selected by the ARA Foundation scholarship committee.
