Dow Corning Webinar on Solutions to Reduce Building Air Infiltration

Building and renovating more sustainable, near-zero-energy buildings requires effective solutions to minimize air infiltration. In a free Aug. 27 webinar presented through The Construction Specifications Institute’s (CSI) WebReach program, Dow Corning’s Andrea Wagner will outline many aspects of creating an airtight building envelope, explaining the different types of air barriers on the market and identifying their pros and cons.

“It’s critical to ensure the most airtight building envelope possible,” Wagner said. “While there are many different systems on the market, it’s important to select a system that best meets a building’s particular needs.”

Wagner will show how a durable air barrier system can be created, with emphasis on how this can be accomplished using a complete silicone system – such as the Dow Corning Silicone Air Barrier System.

The presentation also will discuss solutions to common problems in the development of airtight building envelopes.

“It’s also very important to properly detail the installation,” Wagner said. “Without guidance, systems are often installed incorrectly.”

Wagner, a LEED Green Associate and a Senior Application Engineer for Dow Corning High Performance Building Solutions, focuses her work on airtight building envelopes, new product development, sealants for commercial glazing, standards development and energy efficiency.

Attendees of the Dow Corning-sponsored webinar can earn one AIA/CES learning unit or health, safety and welfare (HSW) credit and one professional development credit hour.

The hour-long webinar is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. EST on Aug. 27. Interested individuals can register or learn more at csinet.org/DowCorningWR. Attendees must register at least 24 hours prior to the event.
